“When I was 15 years old, I was an only child living with my parents. I was a dreamer. So, I made a bucket list and included 30 things I wanted to do in my life. The world record is on that list—it’s one of the highest things I want to achieve.”
On Wednesday, February 5, casino superfans Armijn Meijer and Dominique van der Geer will attempt to break the world record for the most casinos visited in 24 hours, bringing Armijn closer than ever to realizing a nearly 40-year dream.
Hailing from the Netherlands, the duo is embarking on a Vegas mission to visit a remarkable 112 casinos in a single day. Equipped with everything from SUVs to helicopters, they’ll be livestreaming their attempt to break the unofficial 93-casino record that has stood since 2023.
A quick Google search reveals that the official Guinness World Record—set by Americans Kimo Ah Yun and Gary Meyer in 2017—stands at 74 casinos.
However, Dominique explains to PokerNews, “That was our original goal—I looked it up. But due to COVID, many smaller casinos closed their table games, leaving only 70 options.”
“There are also strict rules, like having to use public transport, which is why people are now aiming for the unofficial record instead.”
“We’ve been planning this for over a year now,” Dominique adds, “When we were in Vegas two years ago, a couple was attempting the world record. They had just visited 93 casinos.”
“I joked to Armijn: ‘Hey, that would be fun. We could break that easily.’ And then Armijn got enthusiastic and said, ‘Well, let’s do it.'”
The Team
There’s no doubt that together, the pair makes a formidable team.
Armijn’s credentials for the challenge are undeniable: a former European blackjack champion and poker player, he already holds the record for visiting the most casinos in the Netherlands.
But, as we speak, I can’t shake the feeling that Dominique may just be the team’s secret weapon.
With a background in motorsport management and experience as a Vegas specialist travel agent, there’s no doubt she brings the logistical expertise crucial for this challenge. In fact, it’s hard to imagine a more ideal candidate.
“The plan keeps growing and growing, getting crazier every time. But honestly, that’s what Vegas is all about.”
“That’s what I did in motorsport—I organized the team, and we traveled around the world. We won a lot. I’ve always wanted to win,” she explains.
“When I set my mind to something, I go into overdrive. That’s actually what I enjoy—I love making sure everything is perfectly organized.”
“Armijn’s a little bit crazy! He says, ‘We need a helicopter!’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, of course.’ The plan keeps growing and growing, getting crazier every time. But honestly, that’s what Vegas is all about.”
Meijer, who was known as the “The Great One” throughout his poker career, laughs when talking about his friend: “We’re yin and yang. We both love Vegas and casinos. She’s incredibly organized, and I… well, let’s just say I’m a bit of a liability.”
The Plan
The journey starts at Harrah’s Laughlin at 2:05 AM on February 5— that’s when the clock officially starts ticking.
Joining Dominique and Armijn is a well-prepared support crew of eight. Dominique has left nothing to chance, telling me, “We have two drivers, two cameramen, two operators with us. We have two cars in case something happens to one. Everybody has a pack of cash… Everything has a backup.”
After tackling the Laughlin casinos, the team will board a helicopter (yes, an actual helicopter) from Laughlin Riverside Resort to Primm, where the high-speed sprint continues—first with more casinos, then with SUVs ready to carry them through the next leg of the journey.
From there, the “casino rat race,” as Armijn calls it, barrels into Las Vegas, where the bulk of the action takes place. The final destination? El Cortez in Downtown Vegas, where, all being well, they aim to arrive by 1:30 AM on February 6.
“We have to start with 24 hours, and then we have to party. So, we’re up for at least 30 hours.”
With 112 casinos to hit and an estimated four and a half minutes at each, just thinking about the challenge is exhausting—let alone actually doing it.
Recognizing the scale of the task ahead, Armijn calls it a “mind game” and, with a laugh, confesses, “I like to sleep! We have to start with 24 hours, and then we have to party. So, we’re up for at least 30 hours.”
It’s a mental and physical endurance test—on top of helicopter rides and high-speed truck dashes between casinos, the pair estimate they’ll cover a staggering 29km on foot. Armijn’s even been hitting the gym to ensure he lasts the distance.
Dominique, on the other hand, seems unfazed, especially with the live stream audience in mind. “If he’s (Armijn) getting tired and he’s getting annoyed, we keep on picking on him. It’s fun for the viewers,” she jokes.
With every single second vital, their time at each casino is exactly as chaotic as you’d expect: sprint to the nearest slot machine, throw in $5 each, hit the button, collect the voucher as proof, and dash to the next stop.
If successful, Armijn and Dominique might just set two records this Wednesday—the most casinos visited in 24 hours and the first people who ever visited Vegas hoping to dodge a handpay.

“We have to do something interactive because our real goal is to share the casino fun,” Dominique explains as we discuss the complexities of running a 24-hour live stream.

Legacy
If the plan sounds ambitious, that’s because it is—and it needs to be.
The pair reveal they’ve been in contact with the previous record-holders, John and Kristina Mehaffey, who have already pledged to reclaim the title if Wednesday’s attempt is successful.
With that in mind, both Armijn and Dominique are determined to set the bar high.
“It’s my 38th visit to Vegas. I really love Las Vegas, I really love casinos, and I really love Dominique,” Armijn tells me.
“So I thought, why not make this my legacy? It’s like a kind of magic for me, a life elixir.”
I’m not betting against them.
