On Sunday, India was triumphant in the first U19 Women’s Asia Cup final. They won by 41 runs against Bangladesh at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval in Kuala Lumpur. This was a significant win for the Indian U19 Women’s team, adding to their previous success at the first U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023.
Starting the match, India presented a decent score of 117/7 in their 20 overs period. G Trisha scored a calm 52 off 47 balls. Her performance included five fours and two sixes. Facing early hurdles, Trisha steadied the Indian innings and had a key 41-run partnership with captain Niki Prasad who added 12 runs. Mithila Vinod gave a quick contribution of 17 runs to ensure India exceeded 110. Farjana Easmin from Bangladesh excelled by claiming four wickets, ending with a score of 4-30.
The Indian spinners showed fantastic skill despite a small target for defense. They secured seven wickets overall, making Bangladesh’s score a mere 76 runs in 18.3 overs.

Aayushi Shukla, the leading left-arm spinner, dominated with a score of 3-17 and emerged as the top wicket-taker in the tournament. Colleagues Parunika Sisodia and Sonam Yadav also bagged important wickets. They increased the pressure and slowed the run pace following the power play. Unfortunately, Bangladesh’s attempts, including effort from Juairiya Ferdous (22) and Fahomida Choya (18), failed against the strong bowling from India.
Bangladesh quickly fell from 64/5 to 76 all out, meaning India won comfortably. For her game-changing performance, G Trisha rightfully earned the Player of the Final title. Additionally, her stable play throughout the series earned her the Player of the Tournament title. This success boosts morale, showing India is ready to defend their title in the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup next month in Malaysia.
