Rush Street Interactive, Inc. (RSI), a prominent online casino and sports betting operator, has officially announced the addition of Thomas Winter to its board of directors, effective December 16, 2024. With this move, RSI’s board now comprises nine members, a significant step in fortifying its strategic direction in online gaming markets across the Americas.
Richard Schwartz, CEO of RSI, expressed enthusiasm about the new appointment. “We are thrilled to welcome Thomas to our board,” Schwartz stated. “His proven track record in the online gaming industry and his strategic vision will be invaluable as we continue to expand our footprint and enhance our offerings. We look forward to his contributions and are confident that his expertise will help drive our future success.”
Extensive Industry Leadership
Thomas Winter brings nearly two decades of experience in the online gaming sector, with a career that includes significant achievements in both the U.S. and European markets. His most notable accomplishment was founding Golden Nugget Online Gaming (GNOG) in 2013, where he served as president. Under his leadership, GNOG became a dominant force in New Jersey’s online gaming market, securing impressive market share and industry recognition. This success culminated in the platform’s acquisition by DraftKings for over $1.5 billion, where Winter then oversaw the development of its multi-brand online casino strategy until his departure in 2023.
Winter’s prior roles also highlight his leadership capabilities. He served as CEO of Betclic and Expekt, two established gaming brands within the Betclic Group. During his tenure, he also held the position of COO at both companies, playing a pivotal role in their operational growth and market expansion.
Strengthening RSI’s Expansion Goals
Rush Street Interactive, founded in 2012, operates several leading online gaming platforms, including BetRivers, PlaySugarHouse, and RushBet. These platforms cater to regulated markets in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, offering a wide range of online casino games and sports betting options.
RSI has maintained a strong presence in North and South America, operating in fifteen U.S. states and several international markets, including Ontario, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. Notably, the company recently partnered with 3 Oaks Gaming in October 2024, integrating the supplier’s gaming portfolio into its RushBet platform in Colombia and Mexico. This collaboration aligns with RSI’s commitment to expanding its reach in the Latin American market, where demand for online casino content continues to rise.
With Winter’s appointment, RSI is poised to leverage his extensive expertise in online gaming to further solidify its position in the Americas and beyond. As the company continues to expand its offerings and penetrate new markets, Winter’s strategic input is expected to be a driving force in its growth trajectory.
