One of the biggest dominoes in the 2025 class is officially off the board.
Justus Terry, the No. 9 overall player in the Rivals250 out of Georgia, gave a commitment to Texas on Friday, the final day of the Early Signing Period.
The Longhorns surged over the final two-plus months of the recruiting cycle with Terry, Rivals’ No. 2 DT, who picked Texas over Georgia, Auburn, and Alabama.
“Texas has been coming hard, so I added them to my recruitment,” Terry told Rivals midway through his senior season at Manchester (Ga.) High School.
“I’ve been talking to the coaches and hearing their vibe, the grit in their voices,” Terry said of the Longhorns’ staff. “It was unmatched.”
The 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive lineman was verbally committed in-state to the Dawgs and to USC over the summer shortly after Eric Henderson arrived in Los Angeles. Terry reopened his recruitment ahead of his senior year — making a string of visits before inking this week.
First-year DL coach Kenny Baker and area recruiter Tashard Choice spent a good chunk of the fall in the Peach State quickly ascending up the ladder with Terry, who officially visited Austin in mid-October for the UTSA game.
“I talked with Coach Baker and Coach Choice, and we chopped it up,” Terry explained. “They’re fired up about me. I was asking them questions about what position I’d be playing — and I could be a hybrid defensive lineman, and that’s something I wanted to hear about … I wanted to be versatile.”
