Daniel Negreanu is stepping outside the poker world to launch a non-poker podcast with his wife, Amanda Negreanu, called the Mania Podcast.
The show will kick off Nov. 11 on YouTube and other podcast platforms. Negreanu previously co-hosted the popular DAT Poker Podcast, but he’s moving on to something new, and something that won’t have much, if anything, to do with poker.
Many poker fans may recognize Amanda Negreanu (Leatherman) from Daniel Negreanu’s daily World Series of Poker (WSOP) vlogs in the summer. The couple tied the knot in 2019.
Poker Legend’s Podcast Plans
Negreanu has a massive YouTube following with over 860,000 subscribers, many of whom will likely check out the new podcast. The GGPoker ambassador, despite his main identity being tied to poker, has always had plenty to say on social media and internet forums about topics that have nothing to do with inside straight draws or balancing ranges.
He’s even recently received mainstream attention for his political commentary, including a Fox News article in which the poker legend criticized Democrats post-US election. Negreanu, an avid Vegas Golden Knights fan, also frequently tweets out his hockey hot takes.
As for the upcoming podcast, he said they’ll upload new episodes “weekly as best we can depending on travel.” The topics of discussion between the couple will change from week to week. But Episode 1 will focus on “how (Amanda and I) met and her bipolar diagnosis.” Negreanu shared a short teaser from next week’s show.
Negreanu said he and Amanda “listen to a decent number of podcasts,” but none are exactly like the format of what’s to come from Mania Podcast.”
Mrs. Negreanu was in attendance at Horseshoe Las Vegas in June when her husband ended an 11-year World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet drought in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship.
Negreanu, who turned 50 years old this past summer, will test the waters on a non-poker project, and the poker world — and non-poker viewers — will get to know Amanda better.
