Jason Sagle’s Poker Background
With $1.6 million in earnings, Sagle is no beginner, and after a short period away from poker he’s returned with a bang to sit in the middle of the pack heading into the final table.
“Big Bird” as he’s known, finished 23rd in the 2004 WSOP Main Event for $120,000, and came second in the WPT North American Poker Championships in 2006 for $600,455 — the largest cash of his career.
Fast forward to last November, and Sagle final-tabled the World Poker Tour (WPT) Seminole Hard Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open, finishing eighth for $94,500.
Now he’s made another final table in the 2024 WSOP Main Event, and is guaranteed $1,000,000 when play resumes on Tuesday.
“I just kind of gave up poker for a while, and now I’m back”
“I feel great, I’m happy to be here,” he told PokerNews. “I’m still getting a feel for a couple of [the other players] and that’s what my game is, more feel. It’s not that internet math thing and all that. I just kind of gave up poker for a while, and now I’m back since last year.
“I’ve had some success and hopefully, I can continue — one more day!”
Jason Sagle’s Main Event Story
Sagle himself says that he hasn’t had too much stress over the course of the Main Event, sitting around the middle of the pack for most of the event.
“I’ve had a comfortable stack throughout. So I always thought I was going to go there until I lost two or three hands — but I never did! So it’s been quite convenient.”
His best day came on Day 6, catapulting up the counts to sit in the top ten, before bagging third in chips ahead of Day 8. He will head into Day 5 looking to continue his good fortune and levels of comfort in pursuit of the Main Event title.
