Full House Resorts (NASDAQ: FLL) opened its highly anticipated Chamonix Casino Hotel in Cripple Creek, Colo. on Wednesday.
Along with American Place in Waukegan, Ill., Chamonix, named for the French Alps community near the Italy and Switzerland borders, is expected to be the poshest and biggest revenue driver in the Full House portfolio.
Chamonix features an elegant casino floor, with a wide variety of the newest slot machines, a high-limit slot salon, and the state’s most elegant table games area,” according to a statement. “Many of Chamonix’s hotel guestrooms and suites offer balconies and sweeping views of Cripple Creek, Pikes Peak and the spectacular Sangre de Cristo mountains.”
Las Vegas-based Full House Resorts added that all of the casino and a portion of the 300 guestrooms are open as of Wednesday, along with a temporary restaurant.
More Amenities Coming at Chamonix
Chamonix has the potential to be one of the more luxurious and highly-rated casino resorts in Colorado, and it will feature the amenities to make runs at those titles.
The operator noted that the rest of its rooms will be available next week. Within a month, the 980 Prime steakhouse is expected to be operational. Barry Dakake will oversee that eatery. Dakake is well-known in gaming circles, as he was the chef behind the now-shuttered N9NE Steakhouse at the Palms, and is the “Barry” in the highly successful Barry’s Downtown Prime at Circa in downtown Las Vegas.
Soon after, Full House expects that a luxury jewelry store and its Chamonix Spa will come online. In addition to American Place and Chamonix, Full House runs a pair of gaming properties in Nevada, one in Indiana, Bronco Billy’s in Cripple Creek, and the Silver Slipper in Mississippi.
“The spa features a rooftop pool and deck; winter garden; large workout room with modern exercise equipment; eight massage rooms; and an assortment of saunas, steam rooms, and other amenities,” added Full House Resorts.
Chamonix Could Be Well-Timed Addition to Colorado Casino Scene
Casino hotels are permitted in the Colorado towns of Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek. While those locations aren’t comparable to Las Vegas, they are, in aggregate, among the fastest-growing casino centers in the US.
Helped by demographic tailwinds, including Colorado’s rising population – much of it attributable to an influx of Californians – casinos in the Rocky Mountain state have increasingly bright long-term prospects. For operators such as Full House, the next steps are to keep more in-state bettors from spending their dollars in Las Vegas, and enticing more tourists into overnight stays at the state’s gaming venues.
Chamonix could be a catalyst in its own right, not only because Colorado’s gaming market is rapidly growing, but also because the Full House property will be high-end, something currently lacking in Cripple Creek.
