Karl Burke gives a first start to Dubawi colt Inspired at Newcastle on Tuesday evening, in one of eight races live from the north-east on Sky Sports Racing.
7.15 Newcastle – Brazilian Rose seeks course and distance four-timer
Rebecca Menzies’ four-year-old Brazilian Rose is in unstoppable form having scooted clear of rivals to land the course and distance hat-trick only four days ago. Usual pilot Kaiya Fraser gets on well with this filly and he operates at a terrific 25 per cent when riding for Rebecca Menzies at Newcastle. She looks the one to beat in this Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM Handicap as she bids for her four-timer.
Streak Lightning is having his 26th run at Newcastle and found only one rival too good when finishing strongly last time. He is up 1lb for that performance and has a big chance in his bid for a fifth course win.
Last year’s winner of this race, Ahamoment is rated 3lb lower this time and is another of interest for the David and Nicola Barron team.
6.15 Newcastle – Dubawi colt Inspired makes debut
Clipper Logistics will be hopeful of a promising debut for their Dubawi colt, Inspired, who is out of Group 2-winning mare Worth Waiting. She cost a whopping 300,000gns and is trained by the excellent Karl Burke.
Another debutant is Chess Dad who represents Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole, costing €75,000 at the Goffs Orby Book 1 yearlings sales. He is a half-brother to the 96-rated Royal Hunt Cup winner, Dark Shift and could follow in his footsteps by winning on debut.
Daryll Holland trains Amo Racing’s City Landscape who has been gelded and runs in the first-time blinkers with Jason Watson booked.
Vulcan Way has experience over several of his rivals and completes the shortlist for this Best Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Novice Stakes.
4.03 Newcastle – Recent winners Phone Tag, Joolianoss & Annandale feature
The unexposed Joolianoss caught the eye at Southwell, when winning eased down on only his second handicap start. He was returning from a 134-day lay-off that day and is likely to take another step forward here for James Evans.
Annandale is another with a chance having recently won here over course and distance. He runs here off 63 which might not be enough to stop him in this Extra Winnings With BetUK Acca Club Handicap having previously won at Newcastle off 74.
Jewell Maker, Phone Tag and Urban Road complete the shortlist.
Best of the rest
Pau is the venue for the valuable Prix Rene Cramail Handicap at 12.55pm, where 16 go to post in search of the €110,000 prize.
Domestically speaking, James Evans saddles last-time-out winner Bungle Bay, who steps down in trip for this Weekly £5 Free Bet With BetUK Handicap at 4.40pm. His main rival could be Bernie The Bear, who will be looking to return to the frame after disappointing on a slightly slower all-weather surface at Chelmsford the last day.
Michael Bell’s Time Tested shoulders a 5lb penalty for his recent Lingfield success in the 5.45pm BetMGM: It’s Showtime Handicap, but could well get the better of the likes of Cusack and Electric Avenue.
