Alex Wrigley’s best bets for Saturday’s action include another win for Newcastle and goals at the Emirates.
Saturday’s Premier League selections begin in the North East as Newcastle are backed to send Bournemouth on the long journey home empty handed.
Elsewhere, Fulham are expected to pile the misery on Leicester, Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah is set for a productive afternoon, while we head into the evening hoping for goals at the Emirates Stadium.
Selections
Newcastle to beat Bournemouth 13/20
Fulham to score over 1.5 goals v Leicester 8/11
Mohamed Salah to score & assist v Brentford 4/1
Arsenal v Aston Villa: Both teams to score 19/20
Magpies purple patch can continue at the expense of Bournemouth
Newcastle matched their record of nine successive wins in all competitions with a midweek thrashing of Wolves, and they should be backed to make it double figures on Saturday.
The Magpies have won their last five home games and rocketed up the Premier League table as a result.
Bournemouth have been enjoying a phenomenal season, but only four sides have conceded more away goals than Andoni Iraola’s Cherries this season, and that could be something Eddie Howe’s men can exploit.
Free-scoring Fulham to punish miserable Foxes
Leicester fell to their sixth consecutive Premier League defeat in midweek, and the 16 goals they have conceded in this period leaves them with the second-worst defensive record in the top flight.
Even their big FA Cup win last weekend saw them concede twice at home to QPR, meaning they have conceded at least two goals in each of their last eight matches and on 18 occasions this season.
Fulham also lost their midweek tie, but they scored twice at West Ham and have netted two or more in each of their last five games, including three successive away days.
Salah backed to make a difference in Brentford
Mohamed Salah blanked against Nottingham Forest last time out, but Liverpool’s talisman has been the standout player in the division this season and leads the way in both goals and assists, with 18 and 13 respectively.
He has both scored and assisted in five of his last eight Premier League appearances and has done so on nine occasions in all competitions this term.
The 32-year-old scored and assisted in Liverpool’s 4-1 win at the Gtech Community Stadium last season and he faces a Brentford defence that have shipped nine goals across their last four Premier League home fixtures.
Goals at both ends expected in north London
A win in Wednesday’s north London derby could be the kickstart Arsenal need after a slow start to 2025, but their defensive frailties remain and Aston Villa could capitalise on that in Saturday’s meeting.
The Gunners have conceded in each of their last five matches and four of their last five at home. They face a Villa side that have scored in seven of their last eight fixtures, so expect them to find the net against Unai Emery’s former club.
