Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) homicide detectives have had their hands full in recent days after investigating several murders in and around Las Vegas.
In one case, a man was arrested for allegedly killing his ex-wife’s girlfriend and critically injuring his ex-wife in Las Vegas, according to news reports.
At about 4:45 p.m. on Friday, the two women were shot while they were in a car near the intersection of Blanton and Sacks drives in what authorities believe was a fit of jealousy by the shooter.
The suspect, identified as Adrian Rodriguez-Guillen, 41, allegedly drove up to the women’s vehicle.
He exited his car and then allegedly shot the two women. The ex-wife’s girlfriend died at the scene.
The ex-wife was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center for treatment of her wounds, and is expected to recover, according to police.
After the shootings, Rodriguez-Guillen called the police department to report the crime. He stayed at the scene until officers arrived.
Rodriguez-Guillen is reportedly charged with open murder and attempted murder. He was booked on Friday at the Clark County Detention Center where he remains behind bars as of Sunday. No bail was set. He appeared in court over the weekend.
If convicted on the charges, he could face many years in prison.
Minors Arrested for Killings
Three different minors were arrested recently for murders in unrelated cases.
On Friday, Arnaz Jones, 16, was arrested for a North Las Vegas murder which took place last Sunday.
The deadly shooting occurred in an apartment on East Centennial Parkway.
The victim was identified as Correy Dennis, 33. He was wounded in the stomach and died a short time later.
Jones was sought by police through much of last week and was described by officials as “armed and extremely dangerous.”
Eventually, he was located and apprehended. He was placed in the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center. Jones was charged with open murder.
On Monday, a 12-year-old girl appeared in juvenile court for allegedly fatally stabbing her father at a North Las Vegas residence on Mercury Street on December 27. She too was charged with open murder. The victim was identified as James Waldie, 55.
A GoFundMe page said he was “battling stage four cancer for an ongoing four years.”
We never believed that she would be capable of such a horrific crime,” a relative said on the fundraising website.
In addition, a 15-year-old Las Vegas boy appeared in juvenile court on Monday. He also was charged with murder, for allegedly fatally shooting his father at a Tampa Court residence.
The father was identified as Jeremy Peterson, 45. The two had gotten into an argument that involved other members of the family, too, police said.

On Thursday, a man was fatally shot while adjacent to train tracks near West Owens Avenue and Stocker Street in Las Vegas.
The victim has yet to be publicly identified and the shooter remains at large.
In addition to these murders, the LVMPD played a major role in investigating the explosion in front of the Trump International Hotel on New Year’s Day. The suspect shot himself and died. Seven other people suffered minor injuries.
