The Grand Island Casino Resort is gearing up for a major debut in the first quarter of 2025, bringing state-of-the-art gaming and luxury amenities to central Nebraska. As construction progresses steadily, the development promises to be a landmark addition to the region, offering new entertainment options, hospitality services, and significant employment opportunities.
General Manager Vince Fiala conveyed his excitement about the project’s completion, describing the unique features that will set the resort apart. “Very exciting, it’s seven stories, we have a restaurant, Ruthie’s, that’s our fine dining restaurant on the very top floor,” Fiala shared. “Beautiful view of Grand Island, east, south, west, you can see the whole city from up here.”
Expansive facilities and amenities:
At the heart of the development is a 37,500-square-foot casino floor featuring 750 slot machines, 20 table games, and a sportsbook, catering to gaming enthusiasts of all levels. The resort will also house four restaurants, ranging from casual dining options to the fine dining experience at Ruthie’s, located on the top floor.
Additionally, the five-story boutique hotel will offer 162 well-appointed rooms, designed to provide guests with a blend of comfort and elegance. Beyond accommodation, the resort includes a full-service salon and spa, catering to visitors seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. Entertainment lovers can look forward to a show lounge, promising a lineup of live performances to complement the resort’s offerings.
The Grand Island Casino Resort is not just a destination for entertainment but also a source of economic growth. As the opening date approaches, the resort is actively recruiting staff to support its expansive operations. According to Fiala, between 150 and 200 new hires are needed across various departments, including food and beverage, hospitality, spa services, cleaning, and facilities management.
“We want to hire somewhere between 150 and 200 more employees for food and beverage, hotel, we’ll have a spa, so we’re looking for positions there,” Fiala explained, as reported by KSNB Local 4. “We’ll have obviously a larger cleaning staff too, because it’s a larger property. We will have facilities, we’ve hired some of those people already to take care of the property.”
To facilitate this hiring process, the casino has announced two job fairs scheduled for January. These events will provide prospective employees an opportunity to meet with hiring managers and learn more about available roles:
- Saturday, January 4: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Saturday, January 18: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
According to 500 Nations, both job fairs will take place in the Bosselman Conference Room at the Heartland Event Center, located at 700 E Stolley Park Rd, Grand Island, NE 68801.
Preparing for a grand opening:
While the exact opening date has yet to be announced, construction remains on schedule, ensuring that the resort’s facilities will be ready to welcome guests by early 2025. The project is expected to draw significant attention to Grand Island, enhancing the area’s profile as a destination for leisure and recreation.
The seven-story structure has already captured local interest, not only for its gaming and dining options but also for its potential to boost the economy. Fiala highlighted the broader impact of the project, emphasizing its contribution to the region’s growth. From the panoramic views at Ruthie’s to the state-of-the-art gaming floor, the Grand Island Casino Resort aims to deliver a memorable experience for both visitors and locals alike.
