West Ham United v Everton (15:00)
West Ham fans are not enjoying the season they had hoped for – their big-money signings have taken more time than expected to gel – but the Hammers’ last two home games have been encouraging and further joy beckons at the London Stadium.
Julen Lopetegui’s side thrashed Ipswich 4-1 in a home romp a month ago, then beat Manchester United 2-1 in their next home fixture. The Londoners can be fancied to complete a quickfire hat-trick of successes with another three points.
More than £100 million was spent on summer signings and West Ham should see a return on that investment in the weeks to come.
Visitors Everton have scored only three goals in their last four games and look like they may soon get dragged into the relegation zone.
Brentford v Bournemouth (15:00)
Games at Brentford have come with a guarantee of goals in recent weeks – and there is no reason to believe the Bees’ Saturday afternoon meeting with Bournemouth will be any different.
Brentford have scored nine goals in their last two Premier League outings at their west London base and they know that winning home games against teams of the Cherries’ calibre will be the key to the success of their season, so a positive approach can be expected from Thomas Frank’s men.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, may carry more ambition than usual on the road after they defeated champions Manchester City in their last Premier League game.
Brighton v Manchester City (17:30)
Manchester City have suddenly become leaky at the back, conceding two goals at Bournemouth and four against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and Brighton fans will be more than hopeful that the Seagulls can continue that trend on Saturday evening.
A high-scoring affair can be expected at the Amex Stadium, where Brighton’s last five home games in all competitions have produced a total of 22 goals.
Liverpool v Aston Villa (20:00)
Aston Villa’s campaign has wobbled in recent weeks.
The Villans conceded a late equaliser against Bournemouth a couple of weeks ago and have since been knocked out of the EFL Cup by Crystal Palace, thrashed 4-1 at Tottenham and beaten 1-0 by Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Liverpool, in contrast, have been relentless, progressing in the EFL Cup before thrashing Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Arne Slot’s side appear set to retain their lead at the top of the table with another three points.
