Nonprofits promoting responsible gambling practices in Colorado have a new opportunity to secure funding, as the Colorado Division of Gaming recently opened applications for its 2025 Responsible Gaming Grants. This grant program aims to support organizations and projects that address issues like gambling addiction, provide educational resources, and advocate for responsible gaming across the state.
Christopher Schroder, Director of the Colorado Division of Gaming, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, emphasizing the state’s commitment to responsible gambling. “We are excited to accept applications and look forward to supporting innovative projects that promote responsible gaming in Colorado,” Schroder stated. “This responsible gaming grant program shows Colorado’s continued dedication to responsible gaming, while maintaining integrity for Colorado Gaming.”
Grant Application Details and Review Timeline
The application period is open now, with submissions accepted until December 1, 2024, at 5 p.m. Nonprofit organizations can access the necessary application materials on the Colorado Division of Gaming’s website. Following the December deadline, the Division will review all applications and present its recommendations to the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission (CLGCC) at the Commission’s meeting on February 20, 2025. Final grant decisions will be made at this meeting, scheduled to take place at the CLGCC offices in Lakewood.
The funding process involves a thorough evaluation of each application’s alignment with the grant’s focus areas, including addiction treatment, education, advocacy, and community support for problem gambling. Organizations found ineligible for the grant will receive notification from the Division of Gaming, ensuring a transparent selection process.
Eligibility and Program Requirements for Applicants
To qualify, applicants must be nonprofit organizations or state programs that deliver services or advocate for responsible gambling. Eligible projects might include addiction recovery programs, gambling hotlines, educational initiatives, and support services. Applicants are also expected to meet all reporting obligations and attend required meetings throughout the grant period.
Applications for capital expenditures, such as facility improvements or equipment purchases, are not eligible under the program. Additionally, any organization with a history of failing to meet reporting requirements from prior grants, or those found to include inaccuracies or omissions in their current application, will be disqualified from funding consideration.
In 2024, the CLGCC awarded nearly $2 million in grants to nonprofits addressing gambling-related issues. This continued financial support underscores the state’s ongoing commitment to fostering a responsible gaming culture.
