Just a couple of weeks ago, Rivals released the initial top-100 rankings of the 2027 cycle, currently in their sophomore seasons. But now, we are also beginning to see some early standouts in the 2028 class, who are in the first weeks of their freshman seasons.
One of these 2028 prospects hitting the scene in a big way is Spring (Texas) Klein Oak running back Micah Rhodes.
Rhodes, 5-foot-10, 178-pounds, has made a big impression in the first month of his high school career and is starting to reel in some big time offers.
Coming into Friday, Rhodes had landed offers from Oklahoma, Houston, Baylor, and Boise State. Now, as of lunch time on Friday, Rhodes has added offers from Ohio State and Penn State, two of the top programs in the country known for running back production and development.
In his first four games of his freshman season, Rhodes has amassed 468 yards and four touchdowns on 75 carries.
Following the Ohio State offer, Rhodes told Rivals he was “shocked, excited, and humbled.”
He also added, “More work to be done, I expected this but not so early like this.”
There will not be any rankings in the 2028 cycle for a year or so, but Rhodes is already a name that will be on the shortlist for that designation.
