As the preseason comes to a close and week one edges closer, there’s a growing sense of excitement amongst NFL fans. However, it’s safe to say some fanbases may be looking forward to seeing their teams more than others.
To find out which NFL fanbases are the most hyped about the start of the 2024 season, we analyzed social media mentions of teams in their home locations and ranked them based on how joyful those mentions were!
According to the data, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the most hyped fans ahead of the new season, with a whopping 61% of mentions with emotion displaying joy. While the Bucs aren’t favored in the NFC South this season with NFL betting site Betway, last year’s division win combined with some key offseason re-signings clearly has Bucs fans in a good mood.
Florida was also home to the second most hyped NFL fans as 58% of emotional posts mentioning the Jacksonville Jaguars were joyful. Despite falling short in recent years, it’s clear that a lot of Jags fans think this is the year Trevor Lawrence and co can take the next step.
The Tennessee Titans had a strong offseason in which they added key pieces such as Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard. These additions combined with optimism over young quarterback Will Levis has the Titans as the third most hyped fanbase. Meanwhile, it’s no surprise to see that fans of defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs are excited for another season with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid.

The least hyped NFL fans
On the other hand, some fans are less excited about seeing their teams return to the gridiron.
New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys fans were ranked as the least hyped NFL fanbases going into the new season with just 26% of social media mentions showcasing joy. However, if Aaron Rodgers can stay healthy in 2024, Jets fans’ mood is likely to significantly improve. Meanwhile, Cowboys fans seem uneasy following an offseason of uncertainty around multiple key players such as CeeDee Lamb.
Surprisingly, the San Francisco 49ers fanbase was ranked as one of the least excited for the new season to start. The 49ers go into this season with yet another strong roster, but maybe another Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs has fans feeling a little dejected.
