Our tips to be the Premier League’s highest scorer include Manchester City’s formidable frontman and Aston Villa’s star striker.
Many of England’s top clubs are putting the finishing touches to their pre-season campaigns before the Premier League returns on Friday 16th August and another entertaining season should be in store.
The 2023/24 campaign broke the record for the most number of goals in the Premier League with 1,246 and no less than 30 players scored 10 or more goals in the league.
Many of these stars will have their eyes on another prolific campaign in the hopes of winning the Premier League Golden Boot, with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland taking the trophy home for a second successive season with 27 goals.
He is the favourite to lead the scoring charts next season and is one of three of our tips for the Golden Boot.

Haaland will be difficult to catch
With an astonishing 90 goals in 98 games for Manchester City in all competitions – including 63 in 66 in the Premier League – it is no wonder that Norwegian striker Haaland leads the way in the Golden Boot odds.
The 24-year-old has been in strong form in pre-season with two goals from three friendly appearances and, given the creative qualities of his supporting cast, will be a danger in and around the area once again for Pep Guardiola’s side.
The only potential stumbling block for the superstar striker will be injuries, as he missed seven league matches last season. However, should he stay fit, he will be a force to be reckoned with.
Salah could be Slot’s superstar
Many believe that this could be Mohamed Salah’s last season in a Liverpool shirt and, if the Egyptian is to leave Anfield, he will want to do so on the back of another sparkling season in front of goal.
Salah has three Premier League Golden Boots to his name – the most recent of which coming in 2022 – and he has netted over 20 goals in four of his seven campaigns in a Liverpool shirt.
Last season, the winger netted 18 league goals – the lowest tally of his Reds career – so Salah will be desperate to improve on this tally in the 2024/25 season.
Wonderful Watkins to kick-on from stellar campaign
After a career-record number of top-flight goals last season – as well as netting a famous winner for England against the Netherlands in the European Championship semi-finals – Ollie Watkins could be an outside shout to take the Golden Boot crown.
Watkins netted 19 league goals over the course of last season, as well as laying on 13 assists and he may benefit from the increase in quality of the opposition when he features in the Champions League for the first time this year.
Aston Villa have also made a host of new signings who should provide Watkins with plenty of service in and around the area.
Those include Ian Maatsen, Ross Barkley and Amadou Onana, so the Englishman could be an outside shout in the goalscoring charts.
