The horse racing broadcaster has six selections Saturday as the Qatar Racing Festival comes to a close at Goodwood.
The last day of Goodwood shares coverage with two races from Newmarket on ITV on Saturday afternoon.
The big handicap of the week is the Coral Stewards Cup where LETHAL LEVI
10/1
(15:35 Goodwood) looks of interest after an excellent run in the Bunbury Cup where he did much the best of those that forced a solid pace. He was sent off odds on for the Stewards Cup consolation race two seasons ago but ruined his chance with an uncharacteristically poor start and could never recover. He should be in the firing line throughout and his battling qualities will be an asset in the finish.
At Newmarket ART DESIGN
5/1
(14:05) has appealed as a nursery type and has the chance to prove it on her handicap debut. William Haggas’s juveniles have been a slow burn this season but it means a few could be starting off handy marks and Art Design has a very similar profile to the same connections Art Market who is 2/2 in nurseries for the stable this campaign.
Away from the main action INNOCENT SMILE (14:15 Doncaster) looks to have been found a good opening in the nursery. She was not knocked about in the closing stages last time at Beverley and steps up a furlong in what looks a very winnable race.
There are three stable tracker horses today starting with KNIGHTSWOOD
10000/1000
(14:25 Goodwood) who was added specifically for a big field handicap this week after a luckless run at Haydock three starts ago. He is still unexposed at 1m 6f and has a nice inside draw, providing he can get better luck than at Haydock, and is reunited with Jason Hart. A stronger pace could see him get a lot closer to Fairbanks this time around.
Next up is BOADICIA (14:50 Doncaster) who looked well ahead of her mark when winning at Salisbury but has been beaten twice since and perhaps the race she won was not as strong as I had expected. She has dropped another 1lb and it is the last of her three runs for the tracker.
Last of the trio is CONSOLIDATION
3/1
(16:45 Goodwood) who was added after getting no luck on his debut at Sandown and finishing with plenty left in the tank. He finished 2nd on his first run for the tracker and that looks solid form. Experience is a big advantage over debutantes at Goodwood, the track has the worst record for 2yo debut runners in terms of market expectations (A/E 0.84).
JOCKEYS FOR COURSES
This section has been rather letting the side down in recent weeks, so hopefully this pair riding at tracks where they historically have a very good record can turn the tide.
Hamilton: Rowan Scott (32/260, A/E 1.42) goes for just the one ride, Lunario in the 18:40 for Alice Haynes, for whom he is 6/32 with an A/E of 1.97.
Thirsk: Danny Tudhope (96 / 569 A/E 1.18) has six rides including hat-trick seeking Thunder Run in the 16:30 for Karl Burke, who makes his handicap debut.
