The wait for the 2024 Goliath is almost over with the first of eight scheduled flights shuffling up and dealing on July 27 at the Grosvenor G Casino in Coventry. A massive field is expected by the time the eighth and final flights conclude; could the prize pool top £1.5 million for the first time in the event’s history?
Aside from 2020 and 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in all live poker going on a hiatus, the number of players attending the Goliath has increased yearly. In 2011, 1,765 players bought in, an extraordinary number, but one that is now a drop in the ocean compared to recent events.
PokerStars Launches £2.20 Satellites for the 2024 Grosvenor Poker Goliath
The 2015 Goliath saw 4,210 entrants, with the 2019 edition attracting an incredible 9,300 runners. In 2022, the first year the Goliath returns to the live poker arena after spending two years online at Grosvenor Poker, some 10,584 players bought in. Kyle Jeffrey outlasted them all and scooped £200,000, the largest-ever Goliath top prize.
Last year, we saw an even larger crowd turn out in force, 11,493 to be exact. That Goliath-sized crowd generated a £1,324,000 prize pool, which Alex Todd claimed £176,800 from. No doubt, Jeffrey, Todd, and most of the previous Goliath champions will be taking another bite at the cherry in 2024.

Goliath Schedule
Over 1,800 players have pre-registered for the 2024 Goliath, with Flight A already up to more than 510 preregistrations. Unsurprisingly, Flight G, the penultimate flight before the turbo-structured Flight H, is the second most popular of the starting days for this year’s event.
You can pre-register by heading to any Grosvenor Casino across the United Kingdom or by buying into one of the holding tanks online at Grosvenor Poker.
While at Grosvenor Poker or at PokerStars until August 1, you can play Goliath satellites that award £200 seats. The PokerStars satellites cost £22 and guarantee one £200 seat. However, at 8:00 p.m. BST on July 25, there is a £22 buy-in Mega Qualifier that has 20x £200 seats guaranteed.
At Grosvenor Poker, at 8:30 p.m. BST each day between July 23 and 29, there is a £30 buy-in satellite with 30x £200 seats guaranteed to be won. Winning multiple seats is most definitely worthwhile because each Goliath flight has unlimited re-entries.
