Memphis has gone into Texas to grab their newest playmaker.
Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek wide receiver Rahim Hutchins Jr. has committed to Memphis, he announced on Friday.
The official visit for Hutchins was the driving factor for landing his commitment. At one time, it seemed Hutchins was headed for Houston, but that feeling was changed while on campus at Memphis.
“When I went to Memphis it was just an eye opener. Everything just felt perfect and right. It felt like home, like a brotherhood. It felt like I knew everyone there for like 10 years.”
The staff at Memphis did a great job making Hutchins feel prioritized and like he was already part of the team.
“When I got to Memphis, they didn’t treat me like a recruit, they treated me like an actual player. All the visits I’ve been on, I got treated like a recruit, but Memphis treated me like I was player that was on their squad. And then like another reason why I’m choosing Memphis, you know they got know they got a great quarterback, they just got AJ Hill. They’ve got a great passing game, I like what coach (Ryan) Silverfield and coach (Larry) Smith do.”
As far as his role in the offense, Hutchins feels good about their plans for him.
“I’m gonna be everywhere, I’m gonna move around. I’m gonna go to the slot, to the outside, it don’t matter to me.”
