The next leg of the 2024 Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) is almost upon us, with the long-running recreational player-focused tour heading to Manchester235 over the weekend of March 22-24 for the Open Championship.
The APAT Manchester Open Championship is a £120 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament open to APAT members and anyone who fancies flicking in £120 to get in on the action. You must be a member of Manchester235 casino to play in the Open Championship, and a government-issued photographic ID is required to join.
APAT Manchester Open Championship Schedule
Date | Time | Event |
---|---|---|
Fri 22 Mar | 6:00 p.m. | Open Championship Day 1A |
Sat 23 Mar | 3:00 p.m. | Open Championship Day 1B |
Sun 24 Mar | 1:00 p.m. | Open Championship Day 2 |
Each of the two Day 1s of the APAT Manchester Open Championship is played as a freezeout. However, you can fire a second bullet at Day 1B if you play Day 1A. Should you progress to Day 2 from Day 1A, you can still enter the second flight, but you forfeit your Day 2 stack; you have been warned!
Players on each Day 1 enter the battle armed with 25,000 tournament chips and play to 25-minute levels where the blinds start at 100/100. A big blind ante comes into play from the sixth level onwards, with each flight continuing until only 15% of the field remains. Should you wish to channel your inner Phil Hellmuth and turn up fashionably late, late registration remains open until the end of the eighth level.
The surviving players progress to Day 2 on March 24, safe in the knowledge they have secured at least a min-cash for their efforts. Day 2 starts at the earliest Day 1 completion level or is rolled back to guarantee a minimum of 33 big blinds, and see the clock extended to 40 minutes; it reduces to 20 minutes once the event is down to only three players.
APAT Manchester Open Championship Day 1 Blind Structure
APAT was last in Manchester in October 2022 and saw 178 players fight it out to become the £120 buy-in tournament’s champion. Mick Fletcher was the player who came out on top, claiming the £3,800 first-place prize plus a coveted gold APAT medal.
Fletcher defeated Frenchman Anthony Mathias heads-up, with Mathias collecting £2,720 and a silver medal. Malta’s Angelo Zammit was the third place finisher and received £1,820 and a bronze medal.
