Since Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, and Sly Stallone opened Planet Hollywood at Caesars Palace in 2000, dozens of celebrity owners have opened restaurants in Las Vegas. This Saturday, Pitbull’s Miami Grill will open in the most wonderfully bizarre location for a celebrity restaurant so far.
A Walmart in suburban Henderson, Nev. is just about as far from the Las Vegas Strip as a celebrity restaurant can open. Yet this is where the 43-year-old rapper has chosen to introduce Las Vegas to his fast-casual eatery for burgers, chicken wings, gyros, and cheesesteaks.
Pitbull, born Armando Christian Perez, became a financial partner in the 40-year-old chain in 2012 and hopes to eventually introduce up to five more Miami Grills to Sin City. The “Give Me Everything” singer was a regular at the franchise’s original Miami location and even claims to have penned some lyrics at its tables.
Miami Grill will be located at the Walmart at 2310 E. Serene Ave. in Henderson. Pitbull is expected to attend a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Friday, February 23. The public grand opening will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.
