888poker has treated poker fans yet again with another excellent episode of their YouTube show 888Ride. The poker player in the passenger seat for the latest installment is 2011 WSOP Player of the Year Ben Lamb.
Despite boasting an impressive poker resume with two WSOP Bracelets and two Main Event final tables, Lamb now prefers to maintain a relatively low profile. He shared that he’s limited his poker play to a modest 50-60 days per year while spotlighting the $50,000 buy-in PLO event at the WSOP.
He also reflected on his deep runs in the WSOP and candidly discussed the mental and emotional strain endured.
Beyond the poker scene, Lamb has shifted much of his focus to another passion: golf. His enthusiasm for the game goes hand in hand with a commitment to constant improvement, all while engaging in high-stakes betting on each golfing endeavor.
Surprisingly, Lamb hints at an upcoming venture—a new show centered around the intense world of high-stakes golf betting.
Deep Runs in the Main Event
With $16,233,116 in total live earnings, Lamb sits 66th on The Hendon Mob All Time Money List, with a majority of that coming under the WSOP umbrella ($9,160,821). In the interview, he reflects on some of his results from poker’s premier festival, which includes two bracelet wins and three deep runs in the Main Event.
On winning the Main Event: “It’s every poker player’s dream. It’s still my dream.”
Before making his first Main Event final table appearance in 2011, Lamb came close to being one of the November Nine but bowed out in 14th place for $633,022.
“When you get down to that few, and you don’t win it or get in the top three, it leaves a sour taste in your mouth,” said Lamb.
“When you’re that deep in the Main Event, it’s more than the money. You’ve been playing in a tournament for seven or eight days. You’re tired; you’re emotionally drained. A two-outer becomes a nightmare situation…you’re like, please no jack, please no jack.”
“The Main Event is just like any other poker tournament until [a few hundred hundred remain]. Now, it’s a task that can be completed. It becomes attainable. It becomes super real, like, okay, I might win the Main Event. It’s every poker player’s dream. It’s still my dream.”

High Stakes Golf in the Works?
Nowadays, Lamb much prefers high-stakes golf to poker and shared some details on a project that he’s currently working on.
“So, I’ve had this idea for two or three years. We’re going to film a pilot in the next few weeks. I’ve been working with production companies and some other sponsors for the last six months to bring something to life that would involve super high-stakes gambling on the golf course.”
Tuchman summarized the idea down to High Stakes Poker but on the golf course.
“Hopefully, I can capture what Mori [Eskandari] (HSP founder) captured years ago,” said Lamb. “Even if I could capture half of that, I would be happy.”
“There’s going to be a lot of prop bets. We’re going to gamify it in some ways, and we’re still working out the details. I want there to be a hard minimum of $5,000 a hole.”
