The Gaming & Technology Expo organization announced the transfer of the event that has been held for the last three years in Punta Cana to Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, on September 18 and 19.
“The decision to change the location and date is due to direct suggestions from the leaders of the gaming industry in the Caribbean country, who in turn have listened to the voices of operators from different corners of the island, who consider it more expeditious and productive to summon businessmen to meet in the country’s most important city,” the organizers explained.
José Aníbal Aguirre, CEO of GAT, commented: “Following the recommendations of the physical casino and lottery industry of Quisqueya, we have decided to move the event to the capital of the Republic, under the name GAT Showcase Santo Domingo, and we are thus summoning the entire national industry and operators of the Antilles jurisdiction.”
“The chosen date also responds to the express request of allies and exhibitors, since the new government authorities will take office in September after the electoral processes to be held this year,” he added.

The event has the full support of the Dominican Association of Gaming Casinos (ADCJ) and the National Association of Sports Banks, which will meet at GAT Showcase Santo Domingo, coming from Santiago de los Caballeros, Puerto Plata and the province of Altagracia, among other regions of the country.
GAT Showcase Santo Domingo 2024 will begin on Wednesday, September 18 with academic sessions led by the Corporación Iberoamericana de Loterías y Apuestas de Estado CIBELAE and delegated presidents of regional lotteries, who will discuss with experts the current situation of the sector, the fight against illegal gambling and money laundering.
Other topics such as the metaverse, and the impact of artificial intelligence on creativity, operation, and management of the sector, will also be on the agenda. On the evening of Wednesday, September 18, the GAT organization will host a welcome reception as a networking event.
On Thursday, September 19, the exhibition will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the facilities of the Anacaona Hall of the Renaissance Santo Domingo Hotel & Casino.
The event comes amid momentum in the Dominican Republic in regulatory matters, as there is a draft regulation for online gaming that is currently being consulted with operators. The results of these consultations will be very important in determining the future approval by the Dominican government of online gaming, potentially attracting investment from suppliers and international platforms that have been launched in other jurisdictions.
