Tennessee has won the race for one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 class in four-star George MacIntyre out of Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy.
Ranked the No. 1 player in the state and No. 28 nationally, MacIntyre chose the Volunteers over a final group that also included Alabama and LSU.
MacIntyre has been in Knoxville plenty of times throughout his recruiting process and was back on campus this past weekend ahead of today’s announcement.
MacIntyre on Tennessee:
“I love the idea of the home-state kid going to the home-state school. I really like what head coach (Josh) Heupel has brought to Tennessee. I think he’s got the energy back and offensively, when they are firing they are firing. I feel like when they have all their cylinders rolling, they are one of the most explosive offenses in the country.”
What the Volunteers are getting:
At 6-foot-5, 185-pound, MacIntyre has a natural throwing motion, a strong arm, and athleticism to move around in the pocket and make plays with his legs when needed. He can make all the throws and has a nice touch on downfield passes of 30-plus yards, and is also accurate throwing on the run and off-platform.
His Brentwood Academy team struggled this past season and as a result MacIntyre was a bit turnover-prone, throwing 12 interceptions as a junior. However, he was still accurate and productive behind center, throwing for 3,229 yards and 25 touchdowns while completing 67-percent of his passes.
Why it’s big for Tennessee:
With MacIntyre on board, Tennessee continues their wave of quarterback riches under the direction of head coach Josh Heupel. With the recent successes of Hendon Hooker and Joe Milton behind center and now former five-star Nico Iamaleava taking over the reigns in Knoxville. With today’s addition of MacIntyre, the Vols are set up for success beyond Iamaleava, who got his first start in a 35-0 win against Iowa in the Citrus Bowl.
Expect MacIntyre to be a staunch recruiter for Tennessee as well. He is on the same Tennessee Select 7-on-7 team as other top 2025 in-state targets in Cameron Sparks, Chase Sutton, and Jaylan Morgan and you know he’ll be in the ear of the Vols’ top wide receiver targets as well.
