Rangers winger Ross McCausland has signed a new contract until the summer of 2027.
It’s understood the 20-year-old chose to commit his future to the Ibrox club despite growing interest from clubs in England and across Europe.
McCausland has impressed under new Rangers boss Philippe Clement who handed the youngster his first start for the club in a 2-0 win at Livingston earlier this month.
Days later he earned his first senior cap for Northern Ireland and picked up the player of the match award despite defeat to Finland.
Speaking after agreeing his new contract, McCausland said: “I’m really pleased to have agreed this new deal with the club.
“It’s no secret I am a massive Rangers supporter, and there was no doubt in my mind I wanted to commit my future here for the long-term.
“I’m extremely grateful to the new manager for giving me an opportunity in recent weeks, and I want to repay him and everyone at the club with my performances on the pitch in the years to come.”
Rangers would have only received in the region of £350,000 in compensation if McCausland signed a pre-contract with a club outside of Scotland, however, manager Clement made no secret of his desire to keep the youngster.
“I am really pleased with the progress Ross has made in recent weeks, and he is deserving of this new contract,” Clement said.
“I have been clear that young players will be given an opportunity at this club if they show the right qualities and work ethic, and Ross has done that.
“Ross is a talented young player, and I think it is an important step from the club to move to secure his future here.”
