The 2023 World Series of Poker Europe has been a super success inside King’s Resort in Rozvadov, with guarantees smashed across the board.
The most ambitious guarantee was featured in the €10,350 Main Event, which promised to pay out no less than €5,000,000. That figure was eclipsed in the tournament’s first starting flight on Friday, November 10 and continued to rise throughout Day 1b and the five levels of late registration that took place on Day 2.
The final entry tally stood at 817, and those players generated a prize pool worth €7,761,500. The winner will be awarded a bankroll boosting €1,500,000 ($1,602,701) as well as the gold bracelet.
The 2022 WSOPE Main Event was the previous best with 763, and saw two-time bracelet winner Omar Eljach get the victory along with the €1,380,128 ($1,418,280) first-place prize.
“We sincerely thank each and every one of you for choosing to be a part of WSOP Europe at King’s Resort. Your game and emotions were the highlight of this wonderful festival. Special thanks also to our great staff and WSOP team for their invaluable contribution and hard work,” said Federico Brunato, Director of Poker at King’s Resort
“We wish all the players in the Main Event the best of luck and look forward to seeing the new champion of the year, as well as looking forward to more festivals and records together in the future.”
Bubble Expected to Burst on Day 3
Day 3 of the Main Event kicks off at 12 p.m. CEST on Monday, November 13 and sees 191 players returning to the felt to battle it out in the series’ showstopper.
The top 123 will make the money and lock up the €16,500 min-cash, but of course, all eyes will be on those winner’s spoils. Best positioned to do that are Keneshka Kabir, Andrea Radicchi and Alexander Tkatschew, who lead the pack of survivors. However, notable names such as Adrian Mateos (885,000), Viktor Blom (700,000) and defending champ Eljach (663,000) will be looking to thwart the chip leaders’ hopes and dreams.
The bubble is expected to burst on Day 3, so be sure to follow the action in our live reporting hub. Those who survive the third hurdle will return on Tuesday, November 14, with the winner being crowned the following day.
Alongside the PokerNews live updates, poker fans can follow the action on the King’s Resort YouTube Channel, which will provide cards-up coverage from the feature table.
