The Las Vegas protests from the Culinary Workers Union will block traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard this week! The union expects to stop cars and trucks on the Strip, and to have their members arrested! And rumor has it that these actions are not even necessary!
Hello friends, and welcome to This Week in Gambling, where we have a preview of some brand new slot machines coming from Aristocrat Gaming… but first, Las Vegas protests are threatening to shut down the Las Vegas Strip? That’s got to be this week’s big story! We’ve been discussing a potential Las Vegas strike for the past couple of weeks, and now it appears the union representing those 50,000 plus Las Vegas workers wants to make a statement by sending those workers into traffic to stand in front of cars and trucks! You can’t make this shit up, people.
In what’s being called an act of “Civil Disobedience“, the union is actually asking workers to block Las Vegas Boulevard in front of Paris and Bellagio this Wednesday at 5:00 pm… and to keep standing there blocking traffic until police arrive and they are arrested! At that point, of course. television crews will be there to film the whole mess… and the union will get the headlines. But you know what? That’s not even the stupid part!
You see, information has been leaked that the union and the casinos have already reached a new 5-year agreement with a significant pay increase! They’re just hammering out the details! So why then… why all the melodrama? Why have Las Vegas protests that block Las Vegas Boulevard? Politics. Plain and simple. It’s just politics. You see, workers pay dues to the union… and when people pay for something they usually want to see results. In this situation, that apparently means sending people into harm’s way to stand in front of cars and trucks… and even go to jail… sll so that the union and the workers can see themselves on the evening news news.
So, if you’re one of the ones stuck in traffic on Wednesday, or if your ride share cost $60 instead of $20, or if your evening commute takes an hour instead of the usual 20 minutes… Well, you can thank the Las Vegas Culinary Workers Union for that. Of course, it wasn’t all bad news out of Sin City this week. In fact, U2 has decided to extend their residency at the Las Vegas Sphere into next year! The band added these 11 dates in January and February 2024… and tickets go on sale this week! So, now’s your chance to grab them before they’re all gone again!
Now, turning our attention from the Las Vegas protests, I visited the Aristocrat Gaming booth at the Global Gaming Expo and spoke to them about some of their new games: You know, you guys just rolled out some NFL games which are right behind us here, and you have some other exciting stuff coming out later this year… I thought people might like to know what they can look forward to in the coming months from Aristocrat… So, this season of NFL products started off with Super Bowl Jackpots, which we see behind us here. That’s hitting casino floors right now, followed behind will be Overtime Cash, a three-reel stepper product with the NFL brand, and then a classic Aristocrat title Super Bowl Link Hold & Spin. Every team select-able… that’s all class three.
On the Bingo Class 2 side we have three additional titles coming: Kickoff, Winning Drive, and Rings of Victory. Really excited for all of those to hit casino floors. But they’re not the only games that Aristocrat has. I think we have a fantastic lineup of games coming this year… What Aristocrat is focusing on is extending some of their popular brands and then bringing some of them on trend mechanics… The main game that I want to highlight is Buffalo Dash for Cash… We know everyone loves Buffalo, now we are taking the Buffalo to the next level by combining Cash on Reels and repeat win feature… and then Bigger Fu Cash Bats… that’s one of the games that’s been doing fantastic in our Mars Upright Cabinet… and now we are making it even better with the bigger full Cash Bats! Now you have Cash on Reels symbols with a qualifying symbol that’s going to stand stay for like, three spins… giving players additional opportunity to win more Cash on Reels!
