It has been eight long years since the PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) headed north of the border to the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, but the wait for the UKIPT’s return is almost over, with UKIPT Edinburgh taking place at Genting Casino Fountain Park between October 24-29.
The crown jewel on the UKIPT Edinburgh schedule is the £1,100 Main Event, which eager poker fans can follow the action via the PokerNews Live Reporting pages. Of course, it would be better if you were competing in the UKIPT Edinburgh Main Event and seeing your name on our pages; only you can make that happen.

Nick Abou Risk was the inaugural winner of the UKIPT Edinburgh Main Event, outlasting 400 opponents on his way to collecting £50,000. Irish poker legend and all-round great guy Fintan Gavin banked the title and £61,500 the following year, with Brazilian Nicolau Villa-Lobos turning his £770 investment into a £101,000 score in 2012, which remains the largest payout in a UKIPT Edinburgh Main Event.
Dean Hutchison was at the start of his career when he defeated Team PokerStars’ Liv Boeree heads-up to clinch the title and £93,900 in 2014. Hutchison has since amassed another $2.5 million in earnings, including a $1,850,000 score awarded for his sixth-place finish in the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.
Spain’s David Gomez Morante is the reigning champion, having triumphed over 376 opponents in 2015, the last time the UKIPT stopped off in Edinburgh. That was the last time Morante recorded a live result; perhaps he will return to the felt in an attempt to defend his title?

2023 UKIPT Edinburgh Schedule
The 2023 UKIPT Edinburgh festival takes place at Genting Casino Fountain Park on Dundee Street. Players must be 18 or older and show a valid government-issued passport of photographic ID to participate. It is possible to buy-in onsite at the venue using cash, debit card, Luxon Pay, or via your PokerStars account if you have a PokerStars dot-com, DE, EU, FR, or UK account. However, it is not possible to split payments between different methods.
One UKIPT Edinburgh Main Event flight not shown in the table below takes place on October 26 at 3:00 p.m. UK time. The reason for it not being in the schedule is that it takes place remotely at the Hippodrome Casino in London. Should you progress from the remote flight, you will need to travel to Edinburgh in time for the start of Day 2 at 1:00 p.m. on October 28.
In addition to the plentiful live satellites Genting Casino Fountain Park is hosting, there are satellites running online at PokerStars. With buy-ins starting at only £5.50, the door to a UKIPT Edinburgh Main Event seat is wide open.
Furthermore, those of you who acquire a Silver Pass on PokerStars’ Power Path can redeem that pass for a package consisting of a £1,100 UKIPT Main Event seat, entry to the £330 UKIPT Cup, and $2,500 credited as expenses, limited edition merchandise, live event liaison support, and exclusive UKIPT Edinburgh activities.

2023 UKIPT Main Event Results To Date
UKKIPT Edinburgh is the penultimate stop of the 2023 tour, with only UKIPT Nottingham, serving as the Grand Final (November 5-13), remaining on the schedule.
Although it is unlikely that the UKIPT Edinburgh will match the impressive attendance of the Malta Main Event, there is every chance that it will be the best-attended stop in the UK and Ireland so far, not least because the Scots love their poker, and Edinburgh is an incredible city to visit and explore.
